Zoo trip

On Tuesday room 12,13,14, and 15 went to the zoo!!!It was so much fun, we did lots of things like looking around at how the zoo keepers inspire the zoo animals, we did a scavenger hunt, and a quiz. We went there because our teachers wanted to show us how the zoo keepers inspire the animals, and also as our end of year trip. My favourite part of every thing was seeing the mummy tiger try and soothe the baby tiger, by rocking it back and forth in its mouth, it's crying was sooooooo cute, me and Mrs Gunn only got to see it for a little while because somebody spoiled it by yelling and scaring them away: (!!! The hardest part for me was walking, my feet were giving me so muck pain
My favourite animal was the Graffias

I got to see clipy again

Wool God Eyes

Room 14 has been making god eyes. Mrs Gunn showed use a video clip of a lady making one, we made them as Christmas presents.

How to make a god eye

Materials

  • Wool more than one colour
  • Hot glue gun
  • popsicle sticks 2x
  • scissors
  • buttons
  • sequins
Steps

  1. first get your hot glue gun and very carefully hot glue it together so it's a cross (you might want to get an adult to help you)
  2. Get your coloured wool and wrap in around your sticks going up and down twice, then turn your stick and do the same thing but the other way, now repeat.
  3. Now do a quarter turn and wrap it around the next stick, then do it again to the next stick, and again and again and again, remember to always do a quarter turn.
  4. Eventually you will run out of wool so you can chose to either stop or tie some more string on and keep going.
  5. Once your done prepare for the hard part. . . tying!!! You put your finger on the stick wrap the string around your finger and put the string through your finger and stick then do it again.
If you follow these steps correctly you will be able to make a wool cat eye!!!

  • His brother Theo
  •  Millet
  • Gauguin

Class speeches

This is a picture of me saying my speech. My speech was about Nick Vujicic, I chose this person because he has no arms or legs and he shows excellence. He shows excellence because as I said he has no arms or legs but he can still do lots of stuff EG: play cricket, soccer, run, swim, and lots of other things too. I'm am proud of my speech because it got me through in third place in the finals, But I came a tie with Jack! So I have to give my speech to the class again, Dang it.

Perimeter

Today we had to measure the perimeter of our house. The perimeter of my house is 100.34m.

This is what we had to do to do it:

  1. We had to find our house on Google earth
  2. Next we had to click on a icon that looked like a ruler
  3. after that we had to draw  around our house, and it will show the perimeter of your house

I enjoyed finishing my race.
I came 1st, and it was cool because Gina and Amelia had a tie on second place!

Writers club

I finished my writers club story today. It was fun working with someone else, Oh did I forget to tell you that we worked with David street school to make the story. This was so exiting at writing time each day to see what our buddy had written. I worked with Rhiannon and a girl from David street school, I write most of the story with our buddy because Rhiannon was away the hole time we write it, she was sick, but she help with the first paragraph. It was so fun and I can't wait to do it again.

All my paddels

Yay, on Friday I got all my TRUMP paddles. We started getting them in term two. Our class hosts would have a success criteria and we would try to get a tick for each thing we had to do (It was cool 'cause I was the class host for Thinking) It's so cool that I got all my paddles. This is a picture of my waka with all my paddles on it!!!

Writers club

This term the writers club is doing a story with David street school. We are doing this 'cause it is something that the writers club has never done before, and Mrs Gunn thinks it will be fun. I am looking forward to the part where David street school writes back ( that's the purpose of it ) The picture below is the one I have to write about. Well it starts like there once was a panda. That's all I can tell you of my story, I can't wait to start it.

Doug Willson

last Monday room 14 has a special surprise person come in. It was the famous Author
DOUG WILLSON
He talked to us about his books and gave us two of his new books that hasn't even been released yet!!!
We asked him some questions, I asked when he figured out that he had dyslexia. He also told us that he was going to write a story about. . . .ROOM 14!!!! we all have to have a nick name and I think that my one should be: Green bones

Space Dave

A few days ago space Dave came in to talk to the senior syndicate. Three things I have learnt from him are:

  • There are millions of billions of Galaxy,
  • In 1,000 years another galaxy will crash into our galaxy,
  • And most of the stars you see in the night sky are planets.
We also got to go to the observatory. The cool thing is that we got to see Saturn!!! I can't wait to go back to the observatory, maybe next time we might see Venus.

My war poem

The War
Oh, no, I was running out of time, soon I would have to fight someone I didn’t want to fight. I could tell I was running out of time, The sky was coming alight. My shattering bones made a rattling sound in their place, My face turned pale white as I heard a ‘BOOM,’ I could taste the dirty air running into my mouth, Where was it coming from? It might infect my heath, It was then I noticed that the war had started, I was so nervous that I accidentally farted. I could smell the smoke going up my nose, Now I was tremberling in my heavy clothes, I could hear my comrade being shot, and screaming to the ground. It was happening everywhere, Left, right and all around. Now I wish that I had never came, And now I know that the war is no game! By Leah McAnnalley
